A Luxe Floral Moment: Draping, Greenery, and a VIP Nook Transformed
Share

When our dear friend Rose Previte opened Sook, her beautiful new cafe meets wine bar in DC, we were lucky enough to dream up a one-of-a-kind installation for their downstairs lounge — a space begging for atmosphere, intimacy, and a little magic.
I grew up with a seamstress for a mother, which meant fabrics were simply part of everyday life. To this day, I get especially excited when a project lets me bring flowers and fabric together. So when Sook asked if we could create something that felt lush, cinematic, and transportive… well, you don’t have to ask me twice.
High-Quality Silk Draping With Movement and Shine
The star of this installation is the rich teal silk draping, chosen for its gorgeous natural sheen and incredible flow. High-quality silk behaves differently from synthetic drape — it pools, ripples, and gathers with an elegance that instantly elevates a space.
We layered the fabric along the ceiling and walls to create a canopy effect, then pulled it into sweeping knots and drops to build dimension. The result is a sense of movement — almost like the room is exhaling.
This draping frames the upper-level nook at Sook, instantly turning it into a VIP-adjacent hideaway: cozy enough to feel exclusive, wide enough to become the most photographed corner of the restaurant.
Greenery Inspired by Our Work With LA's Maydān
To complement the silk, we incorporated lush faux greenery, including many of the same varieties we used for Maydan in Los Angeles — one of the buzziest restaurant openings in the country.
Using faux greenery in restaurant settings is one of our specialties:
-
It keeps maintenance low
-
Works beautifully with dramatic lighting
-
And adds organic softness that plays well against architectural edges
Here, we let the greenery trail along the drape lines and cascade from the ceiling, adding contrast and depth without overwhelming the fabric.
The Power of a Signature Restaurant Installation
This project speaks to everything we love most: thoughtful design, material storytelling, and creating immersive spaces that feel personal and intentional. For restaurant groups looking to build something photogenic, memorable, and brand-defining, fabric-and-floral installations can turn a single corner into a destination.
Whether it's high-end silk draping, large-scale greenery work, or custom floral structures, we design installations that:
-
Elevate guest experience
-
Create “Instagram anchor points”
-
Reinforce brand identity
-
And give restaurants a visual signature guests return to
