Flowers Meet Fine Art: A Workshop with the National Museum of Women in the Arts museum
Share

When the National Museum of Women in the Arts reopened its doors with the new exhibition “Women Artists from Antwerp to Amsterdam, 1600-1750,” we were thrilled to be part of the celebration. The show highlights a stunning lineage of female still-life painters — women who mastered the art of capturing beauty, impermanence, and abundance in every petal and brushstroke.
To honor their work, She Loves Me partnered with the museum to host a flower arranging workshop inspired by the exhibition’s vibrant still lifes. It was the perfect creative pairing: flowers and art, past and present, all in one unforgettable afternoon.
Inspired by the Masters
Each participant created their own arrangement using blooms reminiscent of the paintings on view — rich jewel tones, dramatic textures, and layered compositions that felt straight out of a 17th-century canvas. We talked about how these artists used flowers not just as decoration, but as symbols of power, femininity, and time itself.
The gallery’s energy was electric — everyone completely immersed in color and form, channeling the same meticulous, expressive energy that defines still-life artistry.
The Details That Made It Magic
Because we love a good touch of drama, the workshop ended with a creative photoshoot moment. Attendees got to photograph their finished arrangements alongside props like a faux snake, a skull, and antique fruit — a playful nod to the vanitas tradition that so many of these historic works embody.
It was an incredible way to see modern creators interpreting timeless themes, and it reminded us how art and flowers continue to mirror one another — fleeting yet full of meaning.
Why We Loved This Collaboration
Partnering with the National Museum of Women in the Arts was exactly the kind of creative collaboration we live for: intentional, immersive, and joyfully unconventional. It celebrated women, artistry, and the beauty of things that don’t last forever — the very heart of what inspires our work every day.
We left feeling inspired, messy, and completely in love with our craft all over again.
