Bold Blooms for a Bold Voice: Celebrating Dan Pelosi at Bold Fork Books

At She Loves Me, we believe flowers can do more than decorate a room — they can deepen a story. When beloved cookbook author Dan Pelosi (aka Grossy Pelosi) brought his newest book, Let’s Party, to Washington, DC, we knew the flowers had to be just as memorable as his recipes.

Hosted by Bold Fork Books at Union Market’s Dock 5, the event was an instant celebration of community, food, and creativity. Inspired by the purple mums featured on the cover of Let’s Party, we designed floral moments that echoed throughout the space — weaving the book’s spirit into every corner.

It wasn’t our first time celebrating with Dan; when he released his debut book, we also had the joy of welcoming him to DC with a tomato-studded design -- A nod to Dan’s approachable, Italian-leaning recipes.

Why We Love Working with Dan Pelosi

Dan isn’t just a cookbook author — he’s a storyteller. His work blends family traditions, humor, and honesty into something that feels both personal and universally inviting. Even for someone who admits they “hate cooking” (me!), Dan’s tips feel accessible, joyful, and never intimidating. His partner, Gus Heagerty, a rising comedy star and longtime friend, only adds to the warmth of the moment.

This authenticity is what made designing flowers for him such a privilege. We weren’t just creating décor — we were helping build an atmosphere that matched the honesty and joy of his recipes.

Flowers as Event Storytelling

For brands, authors, and event hosts, flowers can become a storytelling tool — not just a backdrop. At Dan’s book event, purple mums tied the brand identity directly to the launch. The tomatoes reminded guests of his signature ingredient. Together, the activations reinforced the energy of the evening in a way guests will remember long after the party ended.

From book talks and panels to creative conversations and cultural events, floral activations like these offer:

  • Brand alignment: Florals that mirror cover art, brand colors, or themes.

  • Memorable details: Unexpected touches (like tomatoes) that get people talking.

  • Photo moments: Installations designed for sharing, amplifying the reach of your event.

If you’re hosting a book launch, panel discussion, or creative gathering, consider flowers not as an afterthought, but as an activation that builds connection and excitement.
